Differences between HCG Diet and 17 Day Diet

The 17 Day Diet is one of many fad diets currently available to those who are hoping to lose their excess weight. Many of these diets have sprung up in the wake of the massive success of the HCG diet, including the 17 Day Diet. Unfortunately, such a proliferation of choice can make it difficult to decide which diet is the right one for you.

What is the 17 Day Diet?

The 17 Day Diet was created by Dr. Mike Moreno and is based around the principle of “carbohydrate cycling”. The diet consists of four separate cycles, each lasting a total of seventeen days. During the first phase, you are required to drastically reduce the amount of carbohydrates in your diet, which is pretty similar to the HCG diet. During the second cycle, carbohydrates are reintroduced. The third cycle restricts carbohydrates once again and the final cycle is about weight loss maintenance.

What are the differences between the 17 Day Diet and the HCG Diet?

The first seventeen days of the 17 Day Diet are almost identical to the restricted diet phase of the HCG diet. Carbohydrates are eliminated and dieters will see dramatic weight loss results. As with the HCG diet, the benefits of cutting out junk food and processed ingredients is undeniable, but unlike the HCG diet, the 17 Day Diet does nothing to address the long term issues related to eating unhealthy processed foods, as it simply reintroduces these foods after the initial seventeen day period has been completed.

Many dieters have been lucky enough to lose weight on the 17 Day Diet, but the vast majority of them have put weight back on as soon as the diet phases have been completed. Furthermore, the 17 Day Diet is unsuitable for diabetics and there is no support for those who are attempting to lose weight on this diet.

The HCG diet has been around for a lot longer than the 17 Day Diet and it has a proven track record for sustained weight loss. Unlike the 17 Day Diet, the HCG diet changes the way your body deals with food and by the end of the diet period, your metabolism will burn calories at a lower threshold, this ensuring that you are much less likely to regain the large amount of weight you have lost.

Whereas the 17 Day Diet offers little or no support, the HCG diet comes with a multitude of diet additions, including the HCG drops, diet sheets, recipes, a meal planner, plus Dr. Simeon’s original HCG diet protocol outlining the science behind the HCG diet.

How does the HCG diet work?

Both the 17 Day Diet and the HCG diet have a restricted calorie phase, but unlike the 17 Day Diet, those on the HCG diet are actually benefiting from the fat burning effect caused by the HCG hormone. Instead of subsisting on a 500 calories diet per day, HCG dieters are actually gaining another 2,000 calories from liquefied fat deposits, which is why HCG dieters are able to enjoy regular weight loss with increased energy levels.

Is the HCG diet better than the 17 Day Diet?

The HCG diet is a scientifically proven way of losing weight safely. There is lots of documented evidence to support the remarkable weight loss effects of the HCG diet and millions of Americans have successfully achieved their weight loss targets by following the HCG diet.

On the face of it, the 17 Day Diet and the HCG diet are quite similar, but although you will probably be able to lose weight on the 17 Day Diet, this weight loss is not sustainable. So for long-term weight loss, the HCG diet is a far better weight loss solution.
