ARES, Kazaa and LimeWire. Which Network Is The Best?

May 14th, 2009   Ares   No Comments »

The Ares download is the newest installment in the long list of file sharing networks, but the difference this time, is that Ares is much more likely to stay around for a longer time than the others. Both Kazaa and LimeWire were very popular and successful for a while, sharing thousands of files between users. When they became too popular though, they then quickly got abused with spyware, virus and corrupt files, that people uploaded so they could install their latest spyware on your computer.

The music industry also struck back aggressively against sharing of what they considered copyright infringement. Since both Kazaa and Limewire were owned by companies and individuals it was very easy for the RIAA to take legal action to shut them down. On top of that, they also uploaded tons of corrupt files form very fast servers to keep users from sharing real files.

Ares on the other hand is open source, which means there is no one that owns the code. This makes it impossible for the anti piracy groups to persecute Ares. The Ares download is also the only file sharing system that can bypass most firewalls, so users can upload from fast connections in public places.

Ares was unpredictable in war

Though often referred to as the Olympian god of warfare, he is more accurately the god of bloodlust, or slaughter personified: “Ares is apparently an ancient abstract noun meaning throng of battle, war.”  Ares is the son of Zeus and Hera and half-sister of Athena, also a deity of war.  In the Greek mythology Ares is the god of war.  Ares was unpredictable in war.

Options for Free Ares Download

I’m a hardened filesharing geek, I suppose. I’ve been doing it long enough to know perhaps a little too much about it.

So when the confusion set in when I came to choose a free Ares download, I was quite frankly surprised. There are so many options for a free Ares download that it simply blew my mind! Wow! I remember the days not so long ago when Ares Galaxy was the only viable option.

I think what shocked me most was just how much better than the original Ares Galaxy some of these newer versions of Ares were. They’ve fixed up most of the bugs that plagued the system from the start (and have still not been fixed); they’ve simply made the software a lot better. If you’ve not changed your version of Ares for a few months then I would definitely advise you to go in search of a free Ares download.

A good place to start for those wanting to get a free Ares download is OfficialAres.com. It has information that’s very useful for veterans and novices, and their unbiased approach means you can trust what’s written there: the site is there for your benefit. Good to know!

Download Ares at officialares.com

I’m a bit of a current affairs buff. Any type of news and comment really interests me. One thing I’m very keen on finding out more about the continually interesting world of filesharing. As a lawyer the legal aspect of it particularly interests me. A good source for me is www.officialares.com. The news section on the site allows me to keep abreast of the comings and goings of the main players on this stage – it’s as complex as any TV soap opera.

It’s a great place to download Ares in its many forms, too. If you’re confused about which is the best way to download Ares then the multitude of very honest reviews should help you make an informed decision. I’m not new to the filesharing game but I did find a better version of Ares after finding the site. If your intention is just to download Ares then you’ll do well to come here and poke around for a while before making the final leap.

The FAQs are useful for newcomers that have decided to download Ares but don’t know which way to turn next. If you’ve got a problem with your version of Ares then there might just be some information here that will help you find a solution. All around this is a good site with some great writing and some very useful information.

Ares Galaxy no longer the king

June 20th, 2008   Ares   4 Comments »

I never thought I would say this, and indeed I do not say it lightly, but Ares Galaxy is now officially past it. It’s a great little piece of software in its own right, but it pales in comparison to newer versions of Ares.

The newer versions – Ares Ultra, Ares Ultimate and Ares Vista are the shining lights here – have been able to learn from Ares Galaxy which was the original implementation; they have also been able to watch where the original made mistakes and to avoid them. What this means is that there are now three versions which were spawned from the original Ares Galaxy which now surpass it in many ways.

Not only are the new versions of Ares technically superior, easier to use, connect to the network quicker, and generally better, but they also offer customer support: something conspicuous by its absence in Ares Galaxy.

Not all new is good, of course, and to prove this point take a (brief and suspicious) look at Ares Gold and Ares Destiny. These versions of the software do not appear to have learned from the mistakes of Ares Galaxy at all; these are a step backwards from the original version. Not only are they inferior in so many ways, but these versions are actually bundled with adware which seems an odd choice of marketing technique! Avoid! There are many better versions out there.

Ares Lite still confused

June 17th, 2008   Ares   2 Comments »

Ares Lite is the source of much confusion from user of filesharing software. Perhaps this is due in part to the misrepresentation to which the software has been subject.

Ares Lite got its name because was a cut down version on the original Ares Galaxy; the difference between the applications was limited to the number of ‘extra features’ available, namely an integrate ‘chat room’. Ares Lite also allowed less simultaneous network connections that its ‘big brother’.

Some ‘Entrepreneurs’ started to package Ares with ad serving software (and worse) in order to make money from downloads of the software. Ares Destiny (bundled with the horrible ‘Dealio’) is a case in point.

Possibly scarred from this negative experience, users then went looking for a version of Ares without the bundled adware. Misinformation across the Internet advised them, incorrectly, that Ares Lite was ‘Lite’ because it had no adware bundled. This is simply not true and there are many versions of Ares that do not include any adware of malware of any kind. Notable examples of ‘clean’ versions of Ares include Ares Vista, Ares Galaxy and Ares Ultimate. If you are in the market for an Ares download then you would do well to investigate these versions before any others.

Officialares best source for Ares Download

I’m a bit of an anorak when it comes to filesharing. Actually, I’m a lot of an anorak. I often grab the latest Ares download , the latest news on how Ares, and the latest information on the world of P2P filesharing. So yeah, call me what you like.

I regularily visit a website that helps me with all this. It’s simply the best place on the Internet (and trust me, I’ve been everywhere) from which to get an Ares download. The best thing about this site (www.officialares.com) is that it offers some neat reviews on the different types of Ares downloads available. The reviews and punchy, and brutally honest. If the guys at Official Ares don’t like an Ares download then you will be the first one to hear about it.

Then there’s the news, and I’ve got to admit that this is my favorite bit. While I’m not quite at that stage of sitting there clicking refresh until a new story appears, I do visit often. The stories are well written and with a style that just nicely hints at the writers’ irreverent view on the world of P2P filesharing. Definitely worth a look.

Don’t risk Ares Destiny

June 5th, 2008   Ares   7 Comments »

I looked up Ares Destiny recently. On the face of it everything seemed good: I use filesharing software regularly and I felt that its was time for a change, and Ares Destiny offered me the chance to do this entirely for free. Wooohooo!

So off I went, found the site quite easily and had a look around .The site is uncluttered and professional looking. I quickly found the download button and within seconds the file was on my computer. I started the install process and, in a rare pleasant surprise, I found that easy to follow. 10 minutes later and I’m downloading my favorite music tracks onto my computer.

Ares Destiny makes filesharing easy, as you would expect from any offshoot of the Ares software. The interface might look a bit bland and occasionally a little tire but it does its job. You’re here to download files, not look at interfaces, anyway.

But then the reality hit home. All this Ares filesharing niceness was for nothing as Ares Destiny had installed Dealio on my computer. Dealio, in case you haven’t had the misfortune to come across it before, is a nasty little application that gives you ads on your computer. It’s very likely that you don’t want these ads, and trying to get rid of Dealio is a bit of a mission in itself.

Unfortunately what started out as a decent enough piece of software is fatally flawed by spy ware. Stay away from Ares Destiny.

Impressed with Ares for Vista

June 5th, 2008   Ares   No Comments »

It’s always when you stop looking for something that it eventually turns up. So was the case with my search for the perfect music filesharing program. I’d hunted, on and off, for weeks only to find the solutions I came across plagued with one problem or another.

So I stopped looking.

Then yesterday I was reading some web sites talking about some compatibility problems resulting from Windows Vista’s increased security. I saw the magic name: ‘Ares Vista: filesharing’. This was billed as filesharing software that played nicely with Windows Vista (one of the problems I’d encountered with the other software). I thought I’d give it a go, not holding out much hope.

And boy, what a find. Ares Vista really does play nicely with Windows Vista (there was zero configuration required). The benefits don’t end there, though: Ares Vista is great looking, very quick (both to start up and to find and download my music) and it’s really, really solid. I have not had it crash on me yet.

This is well presented, well put together software that really hits the magic spot. I have absolutely no problem in recommending Ares Vista to all my friends. Well worth a go, even if you’re not running Windows Vista.

Find out about Ares Ultra

May 27th, 2008   Ares   No Comments »

Ares Ultra is another contender to the throne of best filesharing program. While all these applications have their advantages and disadvantages it is interesting to see where they differ. The biggest string to Ares Ultra’s rather sizeable bow is that it is simple to use. Perhaps it is too simple to use, even, but that is a minor quibble and one which will not effect the majority of users.

What really impresses us about Ares Ultra is that it sets out to be one thing and one thing only: a really solid filesharing application. It doesn’t try to help you to do things you didn’t know you wanted to do in the first place; neither does it hinder you in carrying out those tasks that you really do want to do (namely filesharing). In many ways Ares Ultra is the perfect filesharing companion for those who just want the simple things in their filesharing life.
